I know What Nail Means!

by Diane Bosworth

I teach first grade. This means I never know what I am in for each day! The thoughts and ideas from the mouths of babes can be just about anything. This week we have been learning about words that have the ai combination. We discussed sail, pail, mail and then the word nail.

Loren immediately cried out to the class, I know what a nail is! It is the thing they put in Jesus hand! Then another student cried out, Yeah, he's the guy who lied for our sins! (He has a little problem with his speech! He meant died!) Then another student cried out, And 'rized' from the dead! The excitement in the classroom became very loud with the buzz of discussion, that before I knew it they were all around my desk. Rachel then looked at me and yelled above everyone else, You can learn all 'bout it from my grandpa! He used to be a guy who talked about it up front to people about it. (What an eager bunch to teach me all about this good news!)

At this point, I wanted to present the gospel to all of them, especially the 4 students who were clueless. I wanted to shout out that I knew the story, but I also knew the limitations in the public school system, so I responded with, Hey, I have a Bible and I can read all about it!

Well, the truth is, all over the world, there are people who have not heard the most powerful story of all time. Many are like those few in my classroom who were totally lost as to what story we were talking about.

Then we witness the enthusiasm of the JESUS Film Project. Did you know that 21,000 people a day see the story! Around 648,000 a month, adding up to a whopping 7.8 million a year! Every 4 seconds somewhere in the world another person is making a decision to follow Christ! They are hearing the story!
So, hey, gather around the table of someone you love and shout out the story, Jesus died and 'rized' for us!
